As Youth Delegates, a part of our role is to increase the participation of young Red Cross volunteers in decision-making processes. This includes that we promote and support youth democracy by participating in and contributing to the implementation of youth elections, facilitating activity planning and organizational development.
A democratic youth structure gives youth the opportunity to take part in decision-making processes and ensures that the various opinions among youth are heard when decisions are made. In Malagasy Red Cross, the youth section is an integral part of the organization. It is still at an early stage, with more and more regions and districts implementing youth programs. This is a very exciting process to take part of in Tsiroanomandidy district and yesterday the youth volunteers elected a new youth board.
The youth volunteers elected a youth board that is composed of three members; a president, a vice-president and a secretary. The president is Andry, he is 21 years old and has been a Red Cross volunteer for three years. Within Red Cross he has completed trainings in “promotion of humanitarian principles and values”, “community based health and first aid” and “first aid”. The vice president is Nekena, she is 19 years old and has been a Red Cross volunteer for one year. She has also completed Red Cross trainings in “community based health and first aid” and “first aid”. The secretary of the youth board is Tahina, he is 21 years old and has been a Red Cross volunteer for one year.
We congratulate the new youth board and we look forward to have a good cooperation.
