Hi, everyone!

We are Lise and Liv, the new Red Cross Youth Delegates 2015-2016 to Nepal. We will be working with youth volunteers in Sunsari District, while living in Dharan for the next 9 months. We hope that you will join us on this journey by reading our blog posts along the way! You can also add us on facebook: Lise Ungdomsdelegat and Liv Stangeby.

This is a map of Nepal. We are going to be located in Dharan city.

Lise is 27 years old and comes from Rygge, Norway. She has worked as a volunteer for the Red Cross in the telephone helpline for children and youth. She has also worked with homework support for immigrants and as a refugee guide. She has a Master’s degree in Social Anthropology and has worked for two years as an advisor for immigrants in Oslo.

Liv is 25 years old from Oslo, Norway. She has a bachelor degree in Culture and Communication from the University of Oslo. Her first experience with the Red Cross was in 2011 as a face to face fundraiser. She has been with the organization since and now works as a Sales Leader in the Communication and Market Department. For the last year Liv has also been a volunteer in Red Cross working with Youth and at Stella women center, teaching Norwegian culture and language.

We are a part of the Youth Delegate Exchange Program which means that we are exchanging with two Nepali girls, Durga and Ash Maya, who are going to live and work in Skien, Norway.  For the last three weeks we have had a pre-departure brief in Oslo together with the other youth delegates. We learned participatory methods, volunteer management and shared our previous Red Cross knowledge and cultural experience.

We are so excited for Nepal!

Namasté!
